Sportability Newsletter Kart Racing - West Midlands Friday 6th November 2009
Sportability NewsletterBraking News
We had just been advised by one of our very active members, Kumara Moorthy, of the Endeavour Karting series of race events.
It's short notice, but the final race for 2009 will take place on Friday 6th November, starting 12:00.
The venue is Cannon Raceways, Cannon Business Park, Gough Road, Coseley, West Midlands WV14 8XR. Tel: 01902 565000 Directions and details from their website: www.cannonraceway.co.uk
Kumar has kindly invited our members to come along, but he wants us to point out that good upper body strength is needed to control these machines.
We should also alert you to the costs as this is NOT a Sportability event. So please contact Kumar at the number below to discuss participation and payment.
Meantime, Kumar's instructions are as follows:
Competitors should aim to arrive shortly after 11AM. The day's activities will kick off as soon as all the competitors are suited up and briefed ready to race or noon whichever is earliest.
The racing action commences with practice sessions. Followed by heats designed to bring out the competitive streak in the drivers. The grand finale will be race between the four top point scorers in the heats.
The day's proceedings will end at about 4PM with presentation of certificates and cups to the winners and runner-ups.
Equipment: Cannon Raceways have very generously converted four karts with 'push-pull' style hand-controls. The hand-controls have been designed in collaboration and consultation with disabled karting drivers/enthusiasts and will be available for our use on the day.
Fire proof over suits, helmets and gloves will be provided and must be worn at all times when driving the karts. It is recommended that you wear garments that cover as much of you - e.g. long sleeved shirt or sweater and trousers. You should also bring with you any jell-cushions, etc that you feel will help make your seat comfortable in the kart and minimize pressure injuries - If you bring your own cushions please discuss the viability of using it with staff at the circuit.
Costs: Cost per driver £60 and must be received by me by Friday 23rd October to secure your drive. Please make cheques payable to S. Kumara-Moorthy for the full amount and send to: S. Kumara-Moorthy 24, Bridgefoot Cottages Colney Street St Albans AL2 2EJ Please contact me ASAP if you are interested on 07973 217263 or kumaram@sundera.orangehome.co.uk
Thanks for the invitation Kumar. And have a great day everyone!
P.s. We are hopeful that with Kumar's help we might have some Sportability sponsored 'try- karting' days coming up in the near future, and news of more Endeavour Karting venues.
Watch this space.
