New Sailing Opportunities for Surrey, South London & Kent

Some 30 miles from central London and a short drive east along the M25 from Redhill, the Bough Beech Sailing Club is based on a beautifully located 250 acre lake, nestling in the hillside between Edenbridge and Sevenoaks.

The Club will provide several boats for you to experience the joy, the fun, the exhilaration of sailing with their two Laser Stratos Keel boats and three Access Wide dinghies. All of the boats, loaned by the local Sailability, come with a team who are experienced in matching skills, abilities and people to the boats available. So complete novices and never-evers are more than welcome.

And for more experienced sailors there are other boats also available.

The Club has recently acquired a pontoon with a special hoist to make access to the dinghies easier.

Life Jackets are of course provided, but we suggest that you bring a towel and perhaps a change of clothes - you might get wet!

There is an accessible toilet and shower on the ground floor.

As for food and shelter, there is a galley which serves a huge range of rolls and sandwiches, sausage rolls, pies, (but not chips), beans, soup, toast, cold & hot drinks, cakes, biscuits, sweets etc and all at reasonable prices. There's also a bar.

There will be a marquee and garden benches with umbrellas for shelter, as well as a new large shed (if the weather is really against us) with a good view of the lake.

Don't worry if you haven't tried sailing before, there will be plenty of hands-on advice, guidance and instruction.

And remember that with Sportability anyone within our remit can participate free of charge. We do ask that any friends, family, p.a's etc who wish to participate make a small donation

You don't need special clothing, anything that is comfortable is OK. Tracksuits are ideal, but any casual trouser, jeans, tee-shirts and sweatshirts or fleeces are fine. It will always feel cooler on the water, so it is a good idea to bring an extra layer. As mentioned before a change of clothes is also not a bad idea - just in case.
