Announcing Microlight Flying with APT at Old Sarum Airfield, Salisbury, Wilts
|
We are delighted to be announcing another 'First' for Sportability. Working with the The Aviation for Paraplegics and Tetraplegics Trust we can now offer the sport of Microlight Flying to you! The APT operate from Old Sarum Airfield near Salisbury in Wiltshire and have made flying for people with disabilities a reality since 1994. Using two specially adapted Microlight aircrafts. The Shadow is elegant, tough and has an unrivalled record for reliability, safety and performance. Each has two-seats, with specially modified controls for pilots with varying disabilities. This quote from APT's website captures their ethos and sums up a lot of what we feel: "The Aviation for Paraplegics and Tetraplegics Trust (APT) has been making sky-high dreams come true for the past fourteen years. Whether your ambition is to take a microlight flight or become a fully fledged pilot, APT can help get your dream off the ground. Run by a unique group of people, their dedicated teaching has resulted in many of their students becoming pilots. No physical disability, however severe, is ever a barrier at the APT to achieving complete independence in the sky." Once at the airfield in Old Sarum, there is an on-site cafe which is fully accessible with toilets etc. This makes a good viewing area for friends and family and an ideal waiting place. There is plenty of parking and Old Sarum is easy to get to from Poole and Southampton or indeed any where else as A303 is near by for those coming from East and west of country.
